Being Content
We all have the potential to be beautiful people. My
philosophy that I have held for many years as I worked as a cosmetologist was
simply, God makes no mistakes and my job is to figure out what style He had in
mind when He created the hair on the person in my chair.
The features of each person are unique. I would venture to
guess most of us, at some time are discontent with what we have been given.
The soft fine hair of one may prefer abundant full locks.
Wash and wear curly hair would quickly be traded for the silky feel of straight.
It seems whatever we have, we long for what another has been blessed with.
An old creed I know held wise advice;
“Do not compare yourself with others, lest you become
vain or bitter.”
Max Erhman
The end results of ignoring this insight can be spread to
each area of life...
Physically,
Mentally,
Spiritually,
From time to time I watch those no one seems to frown upon,
admiring their accomplishments and their appearance... sometimes, I wish it were
me...
God beckons me to accept and love myself as I am. To not
compare myself with others, rather, choose faith that my life has purpose and
God will work out every detail of what needs to be changed. To be content with
such things as I have. My challenge is to discipline myself to fix my eyes on
the Author, Perfecter and Finisher of my faith and be thankful...always be
thankful.
